“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
William ButlerYeats

“Imagine you had a child who was two standard deviations below the norm with a 70 IQ. Federal law requires programming, funding, everything for their education. We are dealing with the same degree of discrepancy when we're dealing with the gifted, yet there are no resources and no support.”
Dr. Linda Silverman,  NECGT 2003

Does your child…
  • Love to learn?
  • Have an intense personality?
  • Hesitate to try new activities?
  • Complain that school is boring?
  • Seem to be extremely sensitive?
  • Passionately pursue interests at home?
  • Fail to perform up to potential in school?
  • Prefer to play with older children or talk with adults?

Gifted children think outside of the box and often have trouble fitting inside!  If you think you have gifted child, you are probably right.  All parents think their child is special, but not all think they are gifted any more than all think their child has learning disabilities.  And, as you have discovered, raising a gifted child is not easy.  You are dealing with an unusual type of child, a type often misunderstood by others, including family, friends and unfortunately, even educators.  But you are not alone!

I can help you...

  • Identify and understand the unusual characteristics and needs of gifted children;
  • Address the intellectual, social and emotional issues unique to raising a gifted child;
  • Learn about the curriculum modifications and acceleration options recognized as best practices in gifted education;
  • Advocate for an appropriately challenging education for your child.
